About Albania
Ethnography

The ancient authors have mentioned Illyrians for their “phyric” dances, the use of pipe and the typical Dalmatian clothing. Interesting is the preserving of sleeves  woolen dress by northern women, which might have been Image inherited since “the Bonze Epoch”.
The ladies ornaments and clothing differ according the time and region. Typical are the handkerchief and the embroidered waistcoat, the apron, the pleated dress, necklaces with golden coins, etc. The clothes used in cities has its own characteristics.
Those are embroidered with golden and silver thread, reflecting this way the nobility of the Albanians. In the south, the traditional clothing for men is the kilt and the rotund scull-cap, whereas in the north the wear tight white with thin black lanes woolen trousers, lather shoes, and scull-cups with a tip. While in central Albania the scull-cup has been flat.
Albanians are also famous for some techniques

used in handicrafts, like weaving, ceramic, stone dressing, silversmith, iron works, basket’s fencing, etc.
It is impressing that most of the stone dressing, are symbols used in the decoration of gates, corners and chimneys.
The motifs expressed in these works are: the sun (a positive dominant of the nature), the snake (which symbolizes the protection of the houses and the ancestors cult); the kettle and the cup are symbols of hospitality; the eagles and weapons are symbols of patriotism.
The characteristic buildings in the north called (kulla) seem like towers with

sloping roofs, and thick walls, giving the impression  of a “castle in miniatures”. but this kind of the inborn art, painting and sculpture in Albania are inspired by popular culture. Those are found in museums, central and local galleries, and in private collections, too.
